MAJOR DESIGN FLAW!,

I REALLY wanted to like this blender! I had just sent back the Nesco hand blender because there was a seal on the immersion blender that allowed anything you blended to get trapped underneath it with no way to clean it out. The result was a rotted and liquids that you couldn't clean out.
I was happy to receive this one with all these fancy attachments! But lo, the excitement quickly turned to disgust. The blade attachments for the food processor part of the blender (there are two different ones) has a MAJOR design flaw. There are two holes on the underneath part of the white tube next to the blades. Whenever you blend something, the liquid will seep into the white tube with NO WAY to clean it out. I hadn't even noticed until I was using it for the third time or so and was near a window. When I pulled out the blade to wash it, the light from the window shown through it and I could see food gunked halfway up the tube! Old food! I tried rinsing it out the best I...Read more

I bought this to make smoothies in the morning. It worked well for about 9 months and was much easier than having to pull the blender out. The motor seemed pretty strong but the major design flaw that I see is the attachments are all plastic. That is the part that broke. Bad place to save money on design.

I experienced all the above issues and more. I did find a way to clean the chopping blade barrel. Insert the blade barrel on its pintle in the bottom of the large mixing container. Twist it to lock it in place, then pull up sharply and the barrel leaves behind the little plastic locking nut, the spring and a 2nd little plastic part. Clean and reinsert. Poor design? You bet, but after reading the other reviews, there are other places that trap food and can't be so easily cleaned. The plastic part on the top of the lid broke for me. Wrong place to save some money. Also phone customer service leaves something to be desired. 16 minutes over 4 calls and nobody answers. My call wasn't THAT important apparently. It's too bad really, I love the way this thing makes smoothies.......... Bruce
