This is a good, quality Y-peeler. I actually prefer a simple straight peeler, but if I were to use a Y-peeler, I like this one. It slices very thin and smooth. It was a bit of a transition for me to peel towards myself instead of away, but I got the hang of it quickly. It does a really good job and the design is ergonomic and makes sense. There is a little hook on the side to remove potato eyes and blemishes - this hook is handy to have on there, but not as easy to use without wasting some of the vegetable meat as it digs in easily, but doesn't come back out so easily. The swivel blade is accurate and catches on the skin easily, making long, even peels. Sometimes the peels get caught up in the blade, especially if you are trying to peel quickly so that is a bit annoying, but you can just shake the peel out, so I may be too picky. There are hundreds of peelers on the market, but most can be classified into straight peelers and Y peelers (aka T peeler). This Tom Douglas Peeler belongs the latter. Now, I have been a straight peeler guy for all of my life and this is my first Y peeler. As such, I find the new motion slightly awkward. That being said, the Y peelers offers more power than the straight peelers and many people prefer the Y design. I shall judge this peeler based on its material, construction and design.
This is a beautiful peeler made from the high-grade 18/10 stainless steel, which means it is shiner and more rust-resistance than the typical 18/0 or 18/8 stainless steel. The peeler handle tilts left. This allows more precise and comfortable motion if you hold this peeler in your right hand and operate the peeler in a left-to-right + up-to-down motion. A left hander can also use it comfortably, but he will have to operate it in a front-to-back motion. In the end, this handle is...Read more

The device is simple, convenient to use and to take care of, and works much better than other similar in purpose devices.
