Oster 6647 10-Speed Blender, White

Bought this blender last summer so I could make milk shakes and smoothies. It was a replacement for another blender that we discarded after a couple years use because the motor had burnt out while crushing ice.

I bought my first Oster Blender years ago to make baby food and was always pleased with the results. I particularly liked the small jars that fit right on the blender and other accessories for making and storing convenient, so Oster was my first choice.

This evening while making hummus the blender began to smoke. Apparently the motor has burned out, again, after only seven months of occasional use. $40 seems like a good price for a blender but, obviously not, if you have to replace it twice a year. I would willingly pay more for a model with a better quality motor. So far I haven't found any mention of any kind of warranty... but who keeps the box or receipts for a $40 blender anyway?

I bought this because I already had a glass jar from my old blender.
This blender has lasted over a year but I can't stand the black marks it leaves all over the countertop any more. I'm throwing it out inspite of the fact that it is still working.
