After 2 weeks of minimal use, this piece of garbage literally broke apart at it's base. One would think with the name of Oster you would get something that lasts longer than Madonna's current affected accent, but this was not the case. Avoid my friends, avoid!

This blender only mixes the bottom two inches near the blade unless you're blending pure liquid. Therefore, it is useless for smoothies. Besides this, the bottom leaks. Overall, a very bad choice. I'm shopping for a different blender.

I had an old Oster that worked OK, and it worked for years. My primary use was frozen drinks.
I got one of these new 10 speeds that kicked ... the first time I used it. I was so pleased, I donated the old one to charity. The second time I used the new one it began to smell. The last time I used it, the blender stopped after 1 pitcher of drinks. I used crushed ice and very soft fuzzy navel mix. (This is after 1 month of light use. The next day it turned back on.) I asked a friend to borrow a blender and they brought over an even older Oster blender that worked just fine. And it fit with the new jar.
I wish I'd kept my old one.
I returned the new blender and am looking for a Waring.

If you wonder about why those "high end" mixers like Waring and Kitchenaid cost so much, look at where they were made (USA). The new Osters are imported. Also, more Watts do not NECESSARILY translate to more blending power. Watts just refers to how much power the unit consumes...Read more
