The initial concept of the product is ingenious, but the actual product is cheaply produced plastic with small tangs that will eventually break off rendering the unit less and less effective as time passes. The motor unit must be used as instructed or it will overheat and fail.
The mugs, and blender portion have small plastic tabs which lock it into the blade device, while the blade device loosely snaps into the motor base. The reduced price and travel bag were the selling features for me. All 22 parts can be stored and remain clean, ready for use, while in the travel bag. The travel bag is quite large though and will require ample out of sight storage space. Although the plastic parts are meant to be dishwasher safe, I do not recommend that they be washed in an automatic dishwasher due to the extremes in water hardness,...Read more 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful: By Bobby Beaver (Centennial, CO USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Magic Bullet 22 Piece with Bonus Travel/Storage Bag Although I don't find that this product does everything the infomercial says (What does?) I find it to be a really useful kitchen tool that I use everyday.
The flat blade makes an excellent spice and coffee grinder. The flat blade also whips aiole/maynaise and whip cream quite well. The cross blade (regular belnder blade) does a fantastic job of blending and chopping smoothies, bread crumbs, nuts, hard cheeses and purees for sauces. I like the individual cups as they allow me to mix or grind several different concoctions without having to clean a blender in between. All in all a great multipurpose tool that doesn't take up much space on the counter. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Magic Bullet 22 Piece with Bonus Travel/Storage Bag We've enjoyed our Magic Bullet blender for slightly under three years. Then (suddenly?) the drive gear on the motor base wore away. You'd think the little rubber nubbies on the bottom of the cutter assembly would wear, and they probably did, but the hard plastic vanes of the driver piece just shredded. IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON.
Could this have been because of mis-use, like maybe not pushing down hard enough to assure full engagement of the nubbies in the vanes? I don't know; I'm not going to tell my wife and daughter that they didn't know how to operate a simple hand blender. This thing has to live in the real world. Now the thing is junk. I'll start looking for repair parts, but it sounds like I'm out of luck. I wouldn't recommend the Magic Bullet, until they change their material choice. I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS !! |
