Editor's Choice:KitchenAid's five-speed blender has a number of functions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blender under $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulse function, which works at any of the speeds--a really nice touch. The blender's 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it more manageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart.

This review is from: KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Imperial Grey (Kitchen) This blender is at the intersection of form and function. Ever notice how most blenders are a real pain to clean? (The buttons stick up and food always gets stuck between them where it's impossible to reach). The designers at KitchenAid noticed this, and found an elegant solution! The front panel of the blender is made of a single plastic surface. The control buttons are finger-sized bumps that are easy to press and can be cleaned with a single wipe. The blender is also much more stylish than the Hamilton Beach models I've used in the past. It is modern, sleek, simplified to essentials, and made of high-quality materials. The blender also does a fabulous job of crushing ice, vastly outperforming the Hamilton Beech models. If you value form *and* function, this blender is the model for you. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Imperial Grey (Kitchen) I find it hard to rate this blender. However, the third unit works like a charm, and I have to say that, so far, it's the best blender I've ever owned. It has a great deal of power and large blade surfaces, making it very effective in blending frozen fruit. It also has a very nice turn-on feature where the motor is modulated when it is initially started so as not to stress the blender (or throw food everywhere, I imagine). This also seems to have the benefit of more effectively mixing the ingredients so that what you're blending doesn't separate into layers so that you have blended food on bottom and a layer of chunks on top. If this worked immediately, I'd give it five starts. However, I think it's fair to knock it down to three since getting two bad units in a row suggests a high probability that you will have the frustration of getting...Read more 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By Marcia (Reynoldsburg, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Imperial Grey (Kitchen) This is a WONDERFUL BLENDER.
