I bought this blender on sale from Sears. On the very first use, I was pureeing some soft vegetables. The shape of the jar does not lend itself to this function well. Once the mixture got liquid enough to flow the unit bogged down and died. A strong electrical smell was present from the beginning. I suspect that the unit has insufficient airflow, which makes it quiet, but does not provide adequate cooling to the motor for hard use. I will be returning it and getting a Kitchenaid 4 speed unit which has better reviews.
