This blender works pretty well in making smoothies with frozen ingredients, although I usually have 1-2 chunks left at the end after several button pushes (I make VERY thick shakes though). Also, the condition is okay, even if the blender itself is very scratched up (it's refurbished, so that makes sense). The big problem I had was this: I looked the blender up on the mfg. website and printed a chart of all the programs I could do with it. Then I ordered it. When I got it, I discovered that it could NOT be programmed, the settings are all fixed. I called Blendtec. According to them, these blenders came from a chain of coffee shoppes. Blendtec refurbished them for the coffee shoppes, then the coffee shoppes are liquidating them. Note this: Blendtec could not say how long the coffee shoppes had them before selling them. So these blenders were not refurbished just now, they were refurbished possibly a long time ago. Furthermore, Blendtec wants $350 to take the blender back and reprogram...Read more

I have never given a 1-star rating solely on the performance of the seller, instead believing a rating should be on the item itself, but in this case I made an acception. People need to know how crooked this seller is. I love Blendtec and this blender, although VERY USED, was awsome. My actual rating/review of the blender is at the very bottom. Thanks for reading!

Anyway.... I purchased this item for the two hundred fifty price August 19th or so 2011. I thought I was getting a great deal and THOUGHT I was getting a "manufacturer refurbished" item. "Manufacturer refurbished" means the item is completely gone over by the manufacturer, in this case Blendtec, and made sellable again. When the item arrived & I pulled it out of the box I was hugely disappointed. I knew the ad stated that the unit would show *some* signs of use, but this was terrible! While the customer service has been responsive, the two blenders I've received have been in very poor condition. They show signs of heavy use, scratches all over, the blender jar is cloudy from use as opposed to clear plastic. I have a Blentec that I've used almost daily for 3 years and it looks like new. These look like they were used in a juicebar for several years. The price is good and they functionality is what you'd expect but don't think you're getting a like-new product - you'd probably walk away from it if you found it for $20 at a yard sale.
