I bought this blender to make smoothies and mixed drinks, but the first time I brought it out and tried to blend watermelon, the blender just kept leaking! I unscrewed the bottom and discovered that the plastic ring to keep the leak was already broken, the first time! Serves me right for trying to buy something cheap when I should've just spent the extra money and gotten a magic bullet. Stay away!

I bought mine about 2 months ago, it is now dead!! I have had other blenders that have worked for years, and therefore for this to die in two months, just means this is total crap. I see other black and deckers have low ratings. so do yourself a favor and RUN, RUN away!! I didn't buy mine from Amazon but from a mall near my house.

I bought this seven years ago. While many other users have seen their units die, mine has continued to function without a problem.
However, as blenders go, it has just not been very effective. At best, I have been able to use it only for mixing things that are very easily mixed, like protein powder and milk. It failed completely at more challenging exercises like crushing ice or even just making vegetables into a purée. Usually it would process whatever was at the bottom of the blender but fail to circulate anything further up, leaving it essentially untouched.
In the end, I gave this blender to my daughter, who was entranced by the professional-looking brushed stainless looks. Then I bought a Cuisinart smoothie blender, which was much more to my liking and a lot more useful as a kitchen tool.
